I was born in 1962 in the coal mining town of Doncaster in South Yorkshire / United Kingdom. Close by were the two Royal Air Force bases of RAF Lindholm and RAF Finningley so I grew up with military aircraft flying low overhead most days.
After leaving school at 15 I worked in coal mining and attended university part time, after 10 years underground I moved on to construction working for a large retailer. I started my own business in 1999 and have worked for myself ever since. I now live closer to London with my wife Christine and our animals a cat, three horses, two sheep, a flock of Pheasants and lots of wild life.
Throughout my life aircraft have enthralled me and photography was a natural progression with this interest. For five years I acted as the official photographer for the now defunct Air Crew Association, an organization of ex pilots and crew from the RAF. Many of the members were World War II veterans and it was an honor to work with them and hear their recollections.
I have been associated with the Checksix project in the UK for ten years and look forward to the next ten!

I use Canon equipment, for no other reason than a Canon was the first SLR camera that I ever owned and have stuck with them since. I switched to digital around 2008 mainly to save money on processing!
